I’ll be honest, I’ve never been a huge fan of the rabbit-style vibes. They’ve always felt bulky, bottom heavy, noisy, and a little awkward. So when I unwrapped this toy I was more than a little skeptical.
The Wild Orchid by Evolved is an insertable toy with an attached clit simulator. And that’s about where the comparison to a rabbit-style vibe ends.
Like most top-shelf toys today, this one is smooth silicone, has simple push-button controls, is rechargeable, quiet, and waterproof. It’s got everything going for it.
The Basics
With just about five inches of insertable length, the Wild Orchid is not a monster vibe, but it’s got a generous curve in just the right place to really hit the g-spot. The clit vibe mimics the insertable curve; it’s a good size, and so flexible it’s easy to get it in just the right spot.
Two buttons control the vibe’s multiple functions. There are two motors, one in the main vibe, and one in the clit vibe. Nice! My one complaint was the lack of truly independent controls. You could turn on and control the main vibe, or the clit vibe, or you could have both on the same setting, but I found no way to have both vibes on, but with different settings. A minor complaint, really.
In Use
This one surprised me. Really. The vibe settings are varied, and really nice, producing a deep, rumbly sensation that doesn’t make you go numb. Hitting the g-spot and the clit at the same time is a definite win!
The angle and controls are easy for self-use, though if you like thrusting, it can be a bit tricky to hold onto and not bump the control buttons.
The real bonus of this toy is its overall shape and how well it sits in the body. Once inserted, the bulbous part kept the vibe snug inside me, even during orgasms. Seriously, it didn’t slip out, get pushed out, or move around at all. I like it!
The clit vibe was another nice treat. The vibe sits on a thin, very flexible stalk. Which meant it moved where I needed it to, rather than me trying to maneuver around to get my clit on the vibe. It also meant it wasn’t a problem when I moved around during play. The flexible little shaft made it easy for things to pop right back into just the right spot.
Where’s the Plug
I have no problem admitting that it took me a while to figure out how to charge the thing. While the website mentions the almost microscopic charging port, the packaging and instructions do not. And since I was traveling when I tried this out, I didn’t have web access.
The Wild Orchid is USB rechargeable and comes with a cord. Great. The instructions say to plug the cord into the bottom of the vibe. Where? There’s no visible charging port. On close inspection, I found what looked like a tiny pin prick of a maybe hole. Sure enough, the charger slipped right in, no problem! The joys of silicone.
Oh, did I mention this toy is waterproof? Yes, it’s great in the bathtub!
The Bottom Line
This one actually ranks up there with some of my favorite toys. The combination of deep vibes with both internal and external stimulation is nice. The fact that it stays put without a lot of effort is even nicer. The vibes don’t deliver plug-in level power, but they’re intense enough to reach orgasm, and it’s a nice, long, slow build that feels great.
